Position: Manager, Email Retention, Home & Outdoor
Department: eCommerce – Home & Outdoor
Work Location: Bend, OR, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. What you will be doing:
The ecommerce Email Retention Manager will manage every aspect of our DTC eCommerce email and SMS communications working closely with our Home & Outdoor DTC, Digital Marketing, Brand Marketing, and external email marketing agency Teams. They will strive for industry leading consumer experiences in order to drive engagement and revenue for our eCommerce business. The ideal candidate for this role will exhibit thought leadership around acquisition, retention, automations, journeys, and best in class CRM database management.
Manage segmented email/SMS campaigns for product launches, seasonal promotions, and ongoing lifecycle communications.
Oversee email/SMS list segmentation, maintenance, and growth strategies.
Build and optimize triggered communications (time‑lapse, product‑specific, and post‑purchase journeys).
Maintain a complete inventory of all email/SMS workflows, including sources, triggers, conditions, and platforms.
Align all email/SMS initiatives with the Brand Marketing and DTC marketing calendars.
Create email templates and detailed creative briefs, collaborating with Brand Marketing to ensure strong visuals, copy, and brand voice.
Own and report on email/SMS platform performance metrics, including KPIs such as LTV, CTR, RPV, and AOV.
Partner closely with the external email/SMS agency to develop strategy, optimize tactics, and improve performance.
Conduct A/B testing and leverage dynamic product recommendations to maximize conversion and relevance.
Use analytics, customer data, and personas to deliver personalized, segmented messaging.
Maintain deep expertise in the ESP platform and collaborate with the vendor to maximize available tools, automations, and capabilities.
Track, analyze, and communicate performance insights and recommendations to the broader DTC team.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Tech Savvy – competent with web-based technologies though work or leisure – email marketing, monetized blog, website design
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Experience with various ESP and CRM platforms
Demonstrated high level of autonomy and ability to self-start
Passionate about elevating the customer email experience and continuously optimizing performance
Ability to manage multiple projects and strong desire to own all aspects of email for the brand
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communication or Marketing
5+ years of experience with DTC email, SMS and digital marketing and consumer service-related activity
Experience managing email communications to medium/large sized customer lists
Knowledge of various digital eCommerce paid channels including paid search, display, paid social and CTV/OLV
Knowledge of various analytics dashboards Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Microsoft PowerBI
Prior experience in the outdoor, fashion, lifestyle or action sports retail industry
Project management experience
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Magento beneficial
Experience with managing email service provider software
