Tooling Specialist

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
- Provide technical support and project management skills to design, evaluate, modify, and debugs plastic injection molds. Also, may work on gages, fixtures, and miscellaneous devices required to complete a molded part. Dimensions / Scope
- Research, develop, and prepare specifications for new injection mold projects and improvements to existing injection molds.
- Support projects by contributing to project schedules, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to management.
- Prepare for mold design concepts, preliminary layouts, and mold component details.
- Evaluate complex mold design concepts for functionality and product impact.
- Analyse part designs for moldability and make recommendations to improve concepts.
- DFM & Moldflow report preparation or review. • Provide technical support to tooling manufacturers and participate in root cause analysis and the problem-solving process of design/tooling-related issues.
- Traveling to factories for troubleshooting, mold trial, pilot run, and mass production as required.
- Assist in debugging the function and cycling of molds before releasing the mold to manufacturing.
- Design gages, fixtures, or other miscellaneous devices for manufacturing.
- Interact with internal departments such as BU, QE, QC, Product Engineering, etc., to validate tooling and troubleshooting existing products.
- Guide junior engineers regarding tooling design concepts and specification requirements. Education
Qualification and training
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Engineering Experience or skills required
- 5 to 8 years of plastic injection mold design and experience in cycle processing, part design, troubleshooting, and material properties.
- Project management experience.
- Well experienced in using Windows applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiar with CAD / CAE software, such as AutoCAD, Pro/E, Solidworks, Moldflow, or Plastics.
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Work independently and willing to travel in China occasionally.
- Good at teamwork, willing to take responsibility and sustain the challenge.
- The ability to work long hours, complete projects on time and to specification.
