Position: Director of Sales, Home & Outdoor 

Department: Sales for Home and Outdoor 

Work Location: Bend, OR, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite) 

Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Any updates to this model will be communicated in advance. Please note that hybrid eligibility and schedules may vary based on business needs and manager expectations. 

What you will be doing: 

Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Director of Sales will drive revenue growth and profitability across top North American retail accounts. This role focuses on expanding market presence through effective sales execution, category management, and promotional strategies, while securing new product placements, strengthening customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities. 

  • Providing strategic leadership and partnering cross-functionally to deliver distribution, promotional, and sales goals. 

  • Leading customer engagements with senior stakeholders to secure category leadership and long-term growth. 

  • Leveraging market insights and data analysis to guide line reviews and deliver fact-based recommendations. 

  • Managing account performance, customer satisfaction, and aligning P&L requirements with business unit goals. 

  • Cultivating win-win customer relationships through strategic negotiations and financially sound proposals. 

  • Building, coaching, and developing a high-performing sales team while fostering collaboration and an inclusive culture. 

  • Driving cross-functional alignment with Marketing, Product Development, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure cohesive execution. 

  • Leading forecasting, demand planning, and providing customer insights to support operational excellence. 

  • Communicating effectively with leadership, adjusting strategies as needed, and ensuring delivery of long-term, sustainable growth. 

Skills needed to be successful in this role: 

  • Proven expertise in sales forecasting, demand planning, and S&OP/IBP processes, with a track record of improving forecast accuracy and aligning strategies with operational capabilities. 

  • Strong understanding of retail and channel economics, including P&L ownership, profitability optimization, and cost-to-serve analysis. 

  • Skilled in category management and joint business planning (JBP) with major retailers, leveraging data and insights to influence assortment, promotions, and shelf presence. 

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to improve speed-to-market, trade spend efficiency, and operational alignment. 

  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and securing distribution agreements, launching new products, and driving sustainable revenue and market share growth. 

  • Proven leadership in building, coaching, and developing high-performing sales teams, consistently exceeding performance targets and engagement scores. 

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including POS and scorecard analysis, financial modeling, and scenario planning to guide strategic decisions. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree 

  • 5+ years in Sales management experience 

  • Experience with sales analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, SPS, Circana) to drive data-informed decision-making and performance tracking. 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in matrixed environments, integrating inputs from Marketing, Finance, Product Development, and Operations. 

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
