Position: Electro-Mechanical Engineer (Advanced Technology Innovation)

Work Location: Marlborough, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

What you will be doing:
Helen of Troy’s Beauty & Wellness division is looking for a versatile Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the creation of new products from concept to a fully realized prototype. This role is perfect for engineers who thrive on a diverse set of responsibilities and a divers set of products from medical to water filtration. You'll be responsible for researching new technologies, understanding consumer needs, and using your CAD and design skills to create and iterate on the next great idea.

You’ll be in our labs, using your fabrication skills to build your next inventive product or evaluating the performance of your designs. You’ll be asked to create your own test methods, and you’ll be expected to analyze and present your test results clearly to various teams, including marketing, industrial design, and fellow engineers.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong work ethic, creative, and an insatiable curiosity for continuous learning. You should be comfortable managing your own projects, providing timely updates, and being proactive every day.
Research emerging technologies for use in our product portfolio.
Understand consumer needs and the problems that are worth solving.
Help internal teams by improving capabilities with test equipment and methods.
Evaluate the performance of electro-mechanical systems.
Create product requirements and engineering specifications.
Design and build electro-mechanical prototypes using plastics, PCBAs, heaters, motors, and pumps.
Iterate on prototypes based on new information from testing.
Demonstrate the feasibility of concepts with prototypes.
Design and develop custom test equipment.
Develop test methods to understand performance.
Graph, analyze, and communicate test results.
Identify project risks and system tradeoffs.
Manage your time and provide status updates on your projects
Work with overseas manufacturers on engineering builds and testing.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Research: Ability to research technical topics (papers, white papers, datasheets) and identify emerging technologies with relevant applications.
Design: Proficient in CAD; experience with motors (DC, BLDC, stepper) preferred. Able to quickly generate solutions via sketches or CAD.
Fabrication: Hands-on prototyping skills using 3D printing, machine shop equipment, and hand tools.
Testing: Experience with lab equipment (multimeters, dataloggers, power supplies). Skilled at defining key metrics, developing test methods, and analyzing results through charts/graphs.
Manufacturing: Experience with high-volume manufacturing and injection molding.
Project Management: Ability to manage tasks and provide timely updates.
Communication: Clear communicator with diverse teams (marketing, design, electrical, firmware).
Personality: Self-starter, curious, eager to learn, and up to date on technology trends. Positive, collaborative, and strong work ethic.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
3+ years in a related engineering role (hands-on development, prototyping, or electro-mechanical design).
CAD proficiency: Must be able to design in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.) to create and iterate product designs.
Ability to physically build and test prototypes (3D printing, machine shop tools, etc.).
Familiarity with lab testing equipment (multimeters, power supplies, data loggers) and ability to design/execute test methods.
Ability to clearly document requirements, test results, and present to technical and non-technical teams.
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Master’s Degree
Experience with Arduino or Raspberry Pi
In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $82,000 - $123,000 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
