Position: Creative Director, Beauty  

Department: Creative for Drybar, Curlsmith, Revlon, and Hot Tools 

Work Location: Boston, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite) 

Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Any updates to this model will be communicated in advance. Please note that hybrid eligibility and schedules may vary based on business needs and manager expectations. 

What you will be doing: 

The Creative Director drives the creative vision, execution, and design team for Beauty brands (Drybar, Curlsmith, Revlon, Hot Tools and more). This position requires a leader who can develop differentiated, strategic, and compelling creative solutions that deliver on-brand business goals across all consumer touch points. 

This leader is responsible for the design direction that supports the overall brand strategy, including new packaging design, pack design for new product launches, point-of-sale collateral, digital executions, and design for special events. As an experienced manager who can inspire and be inspired by others, this person will lead and manage a team of creative experts. The Creative Director will bring a mix of artistic, marketing and business expertise to the position to support our mission to drive growth and develop world class brands. 

  • Develops and provides creative direction for all brand and marketing expressions (packaging, merchandizing, digital assets, etc.). 

  • Oversees creation and design of visual identity systems and brand guidelines. 

  • Provides visionary oversight and creative direction for our brands and ensures effective creative development and executional brilliance. 

  • Partners with Marketing teams to ensure a planned, collaborative, and cohesive design approach across all customer touch points. 

  • Generates new ideas and innovation for: creative execution, customer experience, work process and execution. 

  • Collaborates with cross-functional team to execute creative strategies. 

  • Build partnerships with outside vendors to champion the brand. 

  • Drives creative brainstorms with cross-functional team to help surface new, innovative packaging and ways to create assets. 

  • Stays current with the competitive landscape, emerging trends, customer behavior. Understands marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and target audience across brands. 

  • Maintains awareness of current trends in design and merchandising (both in-store and online), and completes audits to observe competitive landscape and research trends and materials. 

  • Builds relationships and manages outside agencies to ensure work supports brand standards and achieves goals. 

Leadership to the Creative Team/Department 

  • Ensure creative team structure reflects the ever-changing business needs. 

  • Provide support to a team of creative designers. Provide leadership to the design team in proper artwork file, Server organization and management. 

  • Provides career paths and development guidance to direct reports. 

  • Creative Team building and mentoring designers. 

  • Fosters a culture of creativity, excellence, accountability, and results. 

  • Set high creative standards for his/her teams. 

  • Manages Creative Budget, seeking cost savings opportunities that drive margin growth for the business. 

Skills needed to be successful in this role: 

  • Seasoned Design skills 

  • Color and print management skills, and knowledge of design trends in the marketplace 

  • Strong project management skills 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication 

  • Leadership skills with examples of programs or processes that have exemplified those skills 

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, teamwork, and time management skills 

  • Team player with strong presentation skills 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BFA in Graphic Design or equivalent experience 

  • 15+ years experience in Graphic Design and Package Design 

  • Beauty Experience 

  • Expert knowledge of graphic software programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, expert knowledge of best Package Design practices 

  • Strong personnel and team management ability 

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis  

In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $130,393.73 - $195,590.60 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
