Position: Director of Marketing, Osprey
Department: Marketing
Work Location: Cortez, CO, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. What you will be doing:
Osprey’s Marketing Director is a professional and inspired leader providing strategic, creative and executional leadership in a demanding and exciting marketing environment. The Director is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy to support Osprey’s brand, product, and key messaging while providing leadership to the marketing team to deliver results. The position reports to the VP of Marketing. Responsible through department managers and team members for all aspects of core marketing, brand media, outreach, events, public relations, retail marketing and digital strategy presentation.
Core Marketing Leadership:
Promotions
Consumer and trade events
Athlete management and utilization
Organic social media
Marketing project management
Seasonal Go to Market planning
Endemic and digital brand media
POS and consumer promotional items
Trade show creative and event support
Partnership marketing
Donations and alliances with industry groups
Retail marketing
Creative Partnership:
Collaborate with creative department on:
Development and execution of Osprey’s seasonal brand and product campaigns
Adherence of branding standards and graphics presentation
Manage creative calendar for print and online production of critical sales and marketing tools
Creative project management
Strategic planning of photo and video marketing assets
Agency Management:
Lead agency management for all agency partners related to creative and marketing functions including but not limited to PR, social media, Trade Show, Retail Display, Packaging.
Public Relations:
Provides direct management of Osprey’s public relations and social media contractors. PR efforts supported by:
Creation of annual PR and SM plan
Annual agency reviews
Print and online editor relationships and education
Response to media and product requests
Timely and insightful development and distribution of press releases
Creation and distribution of Osprey’s messaging through all social media platforms
Identify and supply public events with Osprey product
Give media interviews upon request
Attend appropriate media events
Hold annual media product testing and social events
Coordinate product presentation to gear editors with assistance of PR agency rep at tradeshow
Digital Strategy Support:
Through Osprey’s Director of Digital Marketing and Ecommerce and, provide seasonal marketing strategy and positioning direction to ensure a unified omni-channel execution:
Provide seasonal marketing strategy to digital team
Key member of content calendar team
Coordination between sales, marketing and product teams related to web activity
Sponsored Athlete Management:
Manage requirements of sponsored athlete program (selection, contracts and utilization)
Manage athletes to ensure athlete event attendance, product testing and development, image development, and social media content
Provide sponsored athlete support, coordination and communication
Coordinate product testing process with PLM team
Conduct annual review of athlete performance to determine renewal status
Sales Team Support:
Key member of Osprey C2C team
Develop marketing strategies and varied execution to support Osprey sales objectives
Plan and deliver marketing presentations for annual and trade show sales meetings
Attend and represent Osprey during select sales events
Department Budgeting:
Responsible for annual creation and management of comprehensive budget for all marketing expenses
Regular budget reviews with Osprey Finance
Spending corrections as required
Product Development:
Assist in product design and testing
Assist in naming for new product
Actively participate in product future and feedback interactions
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Demonstrated participation in and enthusiasm for outdoor pursuits.
Creative and promotional orientation.
Demonstrated ability in clear verbal and written communication.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Professional abilities in modern computer applications, marketing techniques, and social media practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
8+ years in marketing experience in outdoor or related industries
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
In Colorado, the standard base pay range for this role is $140,504.51 - $210,756.76 annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
